Jean was still shaking her head as they alighted from the shuttle. A Royal Modloch guard was in attendance. He waved them over and another guided them through.

chapter 27

Jean had never been in any of the domes before, she was as stunned as Aurora by the beauty.

She took a deep breath, ‘Oh, it smells like home.’

A large group was sitting in the pavilion. Aurora and Jean were escorted over to meet them. The more they saw, the more they were astounded. The trees beyond weren’t set out in lines, or a pattern. Instead there were meadows of wildflowers, with patches of green for picnics, winding paths and streams of clear water. Jean noticed Florina’s eyes fix on her. Charlie was standing looking out over the meadow with his arms folded. She walked over and pulled his arm down, slipping her hand into his. Surprise showed on his face.

‘Just run with it,’ she thought as loudly as she could. He smiled and nodded.

‘It is beautiful.’

Charlie nodded, ‘It is something else.’

A bee flew towards her then seemed to bounce off something.

‘What was that?’

‘A sonic field of some kind. It protects the paths, pavilions and picnic areas.’

Merro smiled at Aurora, ‘Did you have a good time?’

‘Wonderful. The food was good for a military vessel.’

‘Are you full? Try one of these pancakes.’

She wrinkled her nose but tried a small bite. Her eyes suddenly shone.

‘Oh that is wonderful.’

‘Isn’t it? Walnut pancakes with honey. The ingredients were all grown here. This came from the Human’s home planet. A gift to the Modloch Emperor.’

She looked around, ‘The planet Earth must be extremely wealthy.’
